Is business the new "It" major?

We are seeing the rise of the business major where very competitive students are no longer applying to engineering and computer science but now turning their ambitions to the business major. I have only seen anecdotal evidence so far, but it has surfaced at one of my favorite schools: University of Washington. The engineering, pre-med, and comp sci programs were already tough, but now, after a 2012 decision by the Foster School of Business, very few students are being admitted into the business program. So what is a student to do? The Seattle native

that couln't get in his sophomore year to his engineering program transferred to Oregon State to have his dream. Stop seeking name brand schools and start going for a school that allows a student to explore their majors and interests. The UW article is here. And a good argument by The Washington Post on why students should not major in business is here.
